Terms and Conditions

These terms explain how our website works and what you can expect when your child learns with LCB Tutors. We have written them in plain English. Please read them before you book. If you have a question, email contact@lcbtutors.com or WhatsApp us on 07386 241 960.

Who we are

LCB Tutors is run by LCB Tutors Ltd, Suite 1 - 1st Floor, Roding House, Cambridge Rd, Barking IG11 8NL. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean LCB Tutors Ltd. "You" means the parent or carer who books lessons, and "your child" means the student.

Using our website

You may use our website to find out about our tutoring and to book a free assessment.

  • Please give accurate details when you fill in the booking form.
  • Do not misuse the website, for example by trying to break its security or sending spam.
  • The words, design and materials on the site belong to us. You can read and share pages for personal use, but please do not copy them for commercial use without asking.
  • We try to keep the website accurate and up to date, but information can change. If a price or detail on the site differs from what we confirm to you directly, we will explain the difference before you commit.
  • Our website may link to other websites, such as exam boards or GOV.UK. We are not responsible for their content.

How we use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

The free assessment

Every new student starts with a free 30-minute assessment, in person or online.

The assessment helps us find gaps, agree a target grade and recommend a plan. It is free and there is no obligation to sign up afterwards. Booking an assessment does not commit you to paying for anything.

Monthly plans and prices

We offer monthly plans rather than pay-per-session lessons. Lessons are in small groups of 3 to 5 students, in person at our Barking centre or live online. Current prices are:

Plan Lessons per week 11+ and KS3/GCSE A-Level
Essential 1 £52 a month £72 a month
Progress 2 (up to 2 subjects) £96 a month £136 a month
Exam Ready 3 (up to 3 subjects) £132 a month £192 a month

Each weekly lesson slot gives 4 lessons a month. You can see full details on our pricing page.

We will always confirm the price before your child starts. If we ever change our prices, we will tell you in advance, and the new price will only apply from a later billing month. If you do not want to continue at the new price, you can cancel.

How billing works

Plans are billed monthly.

We will tell you how and when to pay when your child joins. There are no hidden fees. If a payment is late, we will contact you first. We may pause lessons if payment is not made, but we will always talk to you before doing so.

Can I cancel?

Yes. There is no contract and you can cancel at any time.

To cancel, tell us by WhatsApp, phone or email. Your cancellation takes effect from the next billing month. This means your child can finish the month you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again after that.

You can also change plan. A change normally starts from the next billing month.

What happens if a lesson is missed?

If your child misses a lesson, please let us know as early as you can. We'll offer a catch-up where we can, for example in another group or online, but we cannot always promise one.

If we have to cancel a lesson ourselves, for example because a tutor is ill, we will tell you as soon as possible and arrange a replacement lesson or another fair solution.

Lessons usually take place at the same time each week. If you need to change your child's regular slot, talk to us and we will try to help.

Safeguarding and behaviour

Keeping children safe comes first. LCB Tutors is Ofsted registered and all our tutors are DBS checked.

  • Our centre has cameras and a front desk.
  • If we have a concern about a child's safety, we will follow our safeguarding procedures. This may mean sharing information with the right authorities.
  • We expect students to be polite, to arrive on time and to respect tutors, other students and the centre.
  • Bullying, discrimination, damage or unsafe behaviour is not accepted. If it happens, we will speak to you. If it continues, we may ask your child to leave a group or end our service. We would only do this as a last resort, and we would not charge you for lessons after that point.

Please make sure someone collects younger children on time, and let us know if someone else will collect them.

Online lessons

Online lessons follow the same standards as lessons at our centre.

  • Students should join from a quiet place, with a working camera and microphone where possible.
  • Students must not record, screenshot or share lessons or other students' images.
  • Tutors will not contact students privately outside the lesson platform or agreed channels.
  • A parent or carer should be nearby for younger children.

We are not responsible for problems with your own internet connection or device. If a lesson is affected by a problem on our side, we will offer a catch-up.

Exam centre bookings

We are an approved exam centre in Barking, so students can sit some GCSE and A-Level exams with us.

Exam entries are subject to the rules of the exam boards and the wider exam regulations, including entry deadlines, fees, identity checks and conduct in the exam room. These rules are set by the exam boards, not by us, and we must follow them. We will tell you about any fees and deadlines before you book. See our exam centre page for more information.

What we promise, and the limits of our responsibility

We will provide our tutoring with reasonable care and skill. This is your legal right under section 49 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and nothing in these terms takes it away. Section 57 of the same Act means we cannot exclude that responsibility.

If our service is not provided with reasonable care and skill, tell us and we will try to put it right, for example by repeating a lesson. If we cannot, you may be entitled to some money back.

However, please understand that:

  • We cannot guarantee a particular grade, test result or school place. Results also depend on your child's effort, attendance and the exam itself.
  • We are not responsible for losses we could not reasonably have expected, or for business losses.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence (see section 65 of the Act), for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected. For free advice about your consumer rights, see GOV.UK's consumer protection rights page.

How do I make a complaint?

If you are unhappy with anything, please tell us first so we can put it right.

Email contact@lcbtutors.com or WhatsApp 07386 241 960. Tell us what happened and what you would like us to do. We will listen, look into it and reply as quickly as we can.

If you are still not happy, you can get free consumer advice from Citizens Advice, as listed on GOV.UK.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If a change affects families who already learn with us, we will tell you before it applies.

Which law applies?

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
